Custom Glitter Text

Adding Directed Numbers

Important: The second number tells us whether to go right (+) or left (−), and how many steps to move. (If there is no sign, we assume it is +).

Subtracting Directed Numbers
Important: Two negatives makes a positive
eg 2 - (-6) = 8

  1. Great work jp7! I also teach a year 7 maths and science class (in Hawkesdale, Victoria)and write a blog at http://brittgow.globalteacher.org.au
Have you tried acting out directed number on a chalk line outside? You can also try drawing cartesian co-ordinates and each student is a point on the line. Try y=x, then y=x+1 and
y=x-1. All good fun. Keep up the great work!
